The ANU’s Investments

After some sleuthing and pressure on the ANU Council, the ANU Environment Collective and Fossil Free ANU have acquired a list of the ANU’s top 20 investments. We’ve highlighted fossil fuel companies in red:

  1. ANZ Bank – Australian bank
  2. Adelaide Brighton – construction company
  3. BHP Billiton – one of the largest coal miners in the world
  4. Bionomics – Australian biotechnology research company
  5. Commonwealth Bank – Australian bank
  6. CSL Limited – biotechnology and pharmaceuticals company
  7. JB Hi-Fi – consumer electronics retailer
  8. Mermaid Marine – marine services provider to offshore oil and gas
  9. National Australia Bank Australian bank
  10. Newcrest Mining – involved in gold, copper and some fossil fuel mining
  11. QBE Insurance – one of the world’s largest insurance companies
  12. Rio Tinto – one of the largest coal miners in the world
  13. Singapore Telecom – Singaporean telecommunications company
  14. Sydney Airport – group overseeing Sydney’s airport
  15. Transurban Group – toll road owner and operator
  16. Wesfarmers has operations in open-cut coal mining, amongst other ventures
  17. Westpac Bank – Australian bank
  18. Woolworths – Australian supermarket chain
  19. WorleyParsons – provider of engineering, design, manufacturing etc. services to extractive industries
  20. Woodside Petroleum – Australian oil and gas extractor
